Spring time is right around the corner which means camping season is here. Plus, there's patio time for fun neighborhood cook outs, and of course outdoor concerts, festivals and gatherings with delicious summer brews. Salivating yet? We know your calendar will get hectic between social gatherings and work, so we laid out a couple of options to check out in the North Carolina area this year. Blue Ridge Chair Works was born and thrives in the Carolinas and we can’t wait to pull out our portable chairs and put up our feet for some of these fun picks.
1) The French Broad River Festival May 4 - 6, 2018
The French Broad River Festival takes place every year during the first weekend of May in beautiful Hot Springs, North Carolina. A summer just isn’t complete without visiting the French Broad River and surrounding campsites, breweries and communities that sit within the Hot Springs area. Known as a stopping point on the Appalachian Trail, Hot Spring, NC is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts from family outings to your multi-day backpackers. The festival is located just 35 minutes north of Asheville at the beautiful Hot Springs Campground and Spa. Enjoy shopping for new outdoor gear at the Live Auction or with one of their many art and craft vendors. Enjoy the music and book early to reserve your camping spot!
2) Mountain Sports Festival May 25 - 27, 2018
Looking for a local vibe at your next festival outing? The Mountain Sports Festival has that local home-town feel with a mission we can get behind - to promote and celebrate mountain sports, wellness, and community for all ages. Held on Memorial Day so all can attend with plenty of activities such as running, cycling, mountain biking, paddling, disc golf, climbing and of course, music! Try to carpool, take public transportation or bike if you can as parking is limited and tends to flow onto the streets. Celebrate their 18th year at carrier park. What better way to enjoy the nice long weekend!?
3) Get in Gear Festival March 24th, 2018
Just like all outdoor enthusiasts we love our gear! With everything from mountain bikes to kayaks to handmade and sustainable apparel the 4th annual Get in Gear Fest has it all. This free event is open from 111 am – 5pm with tons of local companies showcasing their outdoor swag. Some exhibitors to check out at the event this year include ENO, Bellyak, SylvanSport 'GO' (Mobile Adventure Gear), Watershed Drybags, Recover Brands, Alpine Towers International and, of course, Blue Ridge Chair Works will also be strutting their locally made furniture at the event as well. Swing by and check out some camping chairs, patio furniture, handmade tables or some of their new upcycled products!
Tip: Show up early as the first 150 people receive a handful of coupons and the chance to win $1,000 worth of prizes for you and your whole crew.
4) Taste of Charlotte Festival June 8 – 10, 2018
Everyone loves samples which is why the Taste of Charlotte has been going strong for 20 years! Held in Uptown Charlotte this fun fair hosts 6 blocks of restaurant samples, live music, entertainment, and unique shopping. Connect with local businesses while enjoying the outdoors and indulging in some delicious samples. The event is completely free to attend, and coins can be purchased for various samples at the vendor booths. Taste of Charlotte truly is a fun, friendly atmosphere for all ages.

5) Carolina Brewsfest May 12, 2018
What’s a festival line-up without a brew festival?! Home to literally hundreds of breweries North Carolina is thriving in the craft brew scene with everything from fruity sours to dark and creamy stouts. Tickets to the event are $7 in advance and $10 at gate with $5 pint tokens at the festival. Located in High Point, NC this festival is a celebration of North Carolina’s exciting and rapidly growing craft brewing community with over 40 breweries in attendance in 2018. Get off to a fun start with their 5k run in the morning and then relax with a cold one in the afternoon. Info and tickets here.
